Arthritis Aquatics Class

Class is designed to help relieve pain and stiffness, and is helpful to individuals with any type of arthritis, multiple sclerosis, physical disability, or injury.

Classes offered

Water Aerobics Classes

Enjoy the benefits of exercising in the water with our water aerobics classes. Exercising in water has a cushioning effect and can be a great alternative to land-based exercise. Just 30 minutes of aerobic water exercise will help you burn around 300 calories! This class will help improve flexibility and strength, lose weight, and increase endurance and muscle tone.

Pool Rentals
Pool rentals are available for birthday parties, church gatherings, scouts, teens, and special groups. For pricing information contact the front desk.

These programs are offered in sessions. Times and days are subject to change due to session. 7 week swimming lesson program for ages 6months-adults.

 

Winter Sessions


Winter Session 2 - February 22nd - April 10th

Registration: 1/25 - 2/15 
** any registrations after 2/15 ill have limited class options and will be subject to a $5 late fee


Parent Tot Class (6 months-3 years)
This program for infants & toddlers is a water orientation program designed to help both parent and child to become more comfortable in the water. The parent guides the child to learn aquatic skills. Games and songs that use basic movements are ncorporated.

Preschool Class (3-5 years)
These lessons are taught by caring YMCA swim instructors using the guidelines of the YMCA Preschool program. Children are taught water safety, stroke development, water sports and games and acquire aquatic independence. There are four levels that children can progress through: Pikes (beginner/non-swimmer); Eels (advanced beginner); Rays (intermediate); and Starfish (intermediate-advanced). 30 min. $25 Mem/$40 Non Monday:         5:30 - 6:00pm / 6:00 - 6:30pm
Wednesday:  5:30 - 6:00pm / 6:00 - 6:30pm

Youth Class (6-12 years)
These lessons follow the National YMCA Youth Swim lesson format. There are six levels of progressively challenging YMCA swim classes emphasizing personal safety and growth, stroke development, and fun in the water. The levels are: Polliwog (beginner/non-swimmer); Guppy (intermediate beginner); Minnow (advanced beginner); Fish (intermediate); Flying Fish (advanced intermediate); Shark (advanced) 45 min. $35Mem/$50 Non

Young Adult and Adult Class (13-17 years and 18 and older)
This class is for teens and adults and teaches the basics of swimming and/or helps

Home School Swimming Lesson Program

This is a swimming lesson program is for those pupils who are home schooled. They will get progressive swim lessons taught by certified instructors. We offer a variety of levels for the participants. Ages 3yrs-18yrs.


Classes offered
Thursdays from 1:00-1:45pm.

 
Session 4 :  2/25 - 4/8 
Registration : 2/1 - 2/25

Mini Swim Team 

A YMCA program that is offered for participants who want to stay active, learn more about competitive swimming, and better their technique. This is a non-competitive program, but will teach children the basics of the sport of competitive swimming. Stroke development and basic skills will be emphasized. Participant must be able to swim 25 meters front crawl and 25 meters back stroke. Ages 5-17 years old. 

This program will run over 4, 8 week sessions.

Classes offered
Tuesday and Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm.

F.I.T. Swimming/Masters

 

This program is designed for adults (18+) who would like to improve their swimming technique and form, as well as develop endurance and physical fitness. This program is designed for any level interested in a competitive swimming environment or a non-competitive environment, with a coach available to provide a swim workout at your current ability, as well as tips and techniques to improve your stroke.

 

There will be one day of technique instruction and then practices will be written for the individual to come and swim on their own time.

 

As mentioned, this program will be offered to those who would like to compete.  There will be minimum 2 meets a year that we could compete in, but potentially more depending on commitment and interest in competing.  All competing members will practice at the High School.

Requirements
** must be able to swim a minimum 50 meters, without stopping, of freestyle and backstroke
** goggles are required and caps are highly recommended
** please wear appropriate attire (no string bikinis, mesh shorts, etc.)




Williamsport Branch Competitive Swim Team


The Williamsport YMCA swim team is involved in the Central PA YMCA Swim League.  Unofficial season will start on September 21st and the official season will start on November 23rd.  Season runs through early April for those who make it to Nationals. 

The program focus's primarily on stroke instruction, drills, flexibility, cross training, and advancement in training sets.  Through this program we hope to foster maturity and gains in skill level.  We also strive to foster a positive social and learning experiance, along with a desire to foster a lifelong love for the sport.

Lifeguard Training Course

The purpose of this course is to teach candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.  Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a Lifeguard/First Aid certification valid for 3 years and a CPR/AED certificate valid for 1 year. 

This upcoming course will run in March. The course runs approximately 31 hours.  Please e-mail Laura at aquatics@williamsportymca.org for a schedule of the dates and times of the course.

Requirements:

Participant must be 15 years old by the last day of the class to participate.  ID's will be checked to verify age.

Registration Information:
Registration will begin on January 25th. $10 is due to register and balance will be due on the first class. ($10 is non-refundable). Balance for YMCA members will be $140 and for Non-Members $160

 Lifeguard Challenge Course

Red Cross Course to obtain Lifeguarding for the professional rescuer and first aid certification.  This course is a self-study course.  There will be no instruction.

CPR for the Pro recertification class.  All participants must have previous knowledge (been certified before) to take the class.
